This is a typical breakfast/coffeebreak treat for us Singaporeans served in those heritage coffee shops. I always enjoy going there as it gives me a nostalgic moment of Singapore in the early 60s. Sitting on the square benches and looking at how they make the coffee freshly from the special “socks”!

Here is a fusion where east meet west. The home made soft bread toasted on the charcoal grill till crispy brown. In this case, the bread is served with cheese and chocolate dips ala fondue style. Served with my all time local favourite drink Horlicks- a malt milky drink. Yummmmmy!

However, the traditional snack would be the toasted bread spread with butter on one side and kaya ( egg and coconut jam) on the other side. Dipped it with coffee “si”(coffee with evaporated milk). A blissful combination.

So are you craving for it now? Check it out at all leading traditional coffeeshops such as yakun kaya toast, wang jiao and many more located nowadays near the local shopping malls. Well in this case, I had mine at Lot1 shopping mall near choa chu kang mrt.

As for my friends who are not in Singapore, I am sure you could try to whip something up close to that right? Or else, come down to Singapore!

French loaves fried with scrambled eggs, minced meat and onions.
Topped with mayonaisse, chilli sauce and a tinge of cheese dip sauce.
With such a perfect sinful combination, it’s a must try supper snack in the east side of Singapore at one of the fav local hang out places!

This is one of the best fondues ever. Swensens has a range of delightful ice-cream scoops, chocolate brownies, bananas, cherries, wafers and strawberries dipped in the hot chocolate fondue and then rolled in a bowl of nuts, a great treat for the sweet tongue buds. I love the great variety and how the hot chocolate simply hardened into a sweet coating that melt in the mouth. If you have a sweet tooth or simply want to have a sugar rush, you should try this out at Swensens Vivo. You get a treat to your tastebuds and also enjoy the nice scenery of Sentosa. How cool is that?
